Social Media set up for Heck Foods

Challenge:

Premium sausage company Heck Foods asked MCG to establish a social media template for its brand using multiple social media platforms. Our role was to build followers and create engagement in preparation for the launch of a number of innovative new products, including Chicken Italia (a low-fat chicken sausage) and Fair & Square (a square sausage perfect for sandwiches), as well as the planned launch of the brand’s online shop.

Objectives:

Establish a template for all relevant social media channels

Develop mechanics to ensure engagement online and build brand awareness, particularly among younger consumers

Increase national audience reach in the run-up to the launch of HECK’s online shop and a series of new products

Support listings with the major retailers

Generate sampling opportunities in order to support HECK’s strategy of using product trial to successfully convert people into regular customers

MCG’s Campaign:

Established consistently branded social media platforms and developed a tone of voice in keeping with HECK’s branding, using humour and positivity to communicate key messages

Used competitions to increase the audience reach

Developed a new online store locator function to drive traffic to HECK’s site and answer consumer queries and support retail listings

Identified and liaised with key bloggers to achieve positive product reviews and recipe coverage that communicates HECK’s key messages

Results:

Increased followers by 400% in four months

Generated more than 1500 visits to the store locator in the first two months

Received more than 1500 competition entries, reaching more than 50,000 people and creating a significant uplift in new visitors to HECK’s website

More than ten positive blogger reviews, increasing referral traffic and generating valuable links with significant page authority

Secured sampling opportunities, including Leeds’ prestigious new Trinity Kitchen

“MCG was tasked with raising awareness of a new premium food brand that supplied national retail. The challenge was a big one, no one had heard of the brand, so Social Media was identified as a way of reaching the target audience.

MCG leapt into action and from an extremely low presence in the arena. By really getting under the skin of the brand values and the people in the business, MCG cleverly levered tactical approaches to take Heck from a regional business to reach a nationwide audience.
