The last taste test, in attempt to start 2011 on a healthy note, focused on smoothies, with Sainbury’s own brand beating established smoothie brands Tropicana and Innocent into second and third place respectively. However, inevitably, it didn’t take long for normal service to resume at MCG towers and this taste test focused on the far-less healthy option of ready salted crisps. With the start of a new year we thought it was time for another taste test at MCG. As the ‘new boy’ currently on work placement, it was my duty to carry out the test and make sure there was no infringement of rules from, well, most of the participants.
As January is the healthiest month of the year and with me personally finding MCG the healthiest office I have ever worked in, with all the soups and salads, we soon decided to taste a healthy smoothie

As I may have mentioned before in this blog I’m an Essex girl living in Yorkshire. So my accent is a real mish-mash of southern inflection and Yorkshire phrases and words. When I visit my family they laugh at my comical Yorkshire accent and imitate me badly, whilst in Yorkshire I’m quite obviously not from round here.
Of course I’m not unusual. Everyone’s voice speaks volumes about them.
The British Library wants to capture the evolving English language for posterity. It’s not just about where you’re from of course: young people use different pronunciation from their parents and grandparents and each of us has our own preferences and bugbears. Having just returned from one of my favourite places in the world, New York, I find myself one of the privileged (?) few who has actually seen the much talked-about new musical Spiderman. Due to open in February, preview performances have made the headlines on safety issues, with four actors injured, one seriously after he plunged some 30 feet into the orchestra pit when a safety rope snapped.
Now New York theatre critics have broken the traditional embargo on previews by writing damning preliminary assessments. Like circling vultures they are predicting early closure for the $65 million production – New York Post columnist Michael Riedel said: “I don’t think Spiderman can overcome the publicity”.

As a PR professional, I’m always looking for the news hook to make a story fly in the media. Being a former journalist, I’m usually pretty good at knowing what is news and what isn’t. There are always anomalies, sometimes something with very little legs flies and sometimes the best story nosedives. But I like that, it’s part of what makes this job so interesting.
Knowing and loving The Archers as I do, the recent hype around its 60th anniversary episode which promised “to shake Ambridge to the core” was always going to be difficult to deliver.
