Here at MCG PR, it’s fair to say, we know a good biscuit when we taste it – chocolate for Joss, organic for Sarah, no fruity bits for Kyla and of course absolutely no wheat for Claire!
When someone brought in a king size bag of jaffa cakes, it was like all our Christmases had come at once; at only £1 a go, we lived on them for the whole week. With jaffas now our preferred biscuit/cake of choice (no whining, everyone loves them) we decided to find our ultimate King of the jaffa cake world, an important, even ground breaking piece of research I’m sure you’ll agree……
With five different brands brought to the table, we all put our taste buds to the test and marked each jaffa for appearance, immediate and after taste – top marks to Katie for making it so official! No laughing matter we all ‘deliberated, cogitated and digested’ each brand and waited with baited breath for the final results….
If you’ve managed to get this far in the blog you definitely deserve to find out which was our worthy winner…in the end it was surprise entry Tesco own label, with the original jaffa cake founder McVities coming a close second.
We’ve now decided to test some more brands and turn it into a bit of a weekly taster session. Next on the list is rich tea biscuits and their dunkability, with salt and vinegar crisps, tomato ketchup and custard creams yet to face their fate – bet you all can’t wait! But for now I’ll leave with you the promise to blog about something a little more intellectual and thought provoking next time…now who’s for another jaffa cake?
